It seems mostly tweaks and a few upgrades to functionality, but nothing major really. I also looked at the new Street Atlas 2009 and it doesn’t seem any different, at least in the screenshots I saw.

You might say that the software is old, being dated 2008, but as soon as I installed it and checked for updates all of the maps were updated for me, so even though it’s 2008, it does use the current maps. Even after I got the new-user's 'bonus download of $40 worth of map data' from DeLorme for whi ch I requested 140 square miles around Mexico City. The included map data could do barely more than show me where Mexico City was on a global scale. Or at least, I couldn't figure out how.Īnd 'Mexico maps' doesn't mean it even includes street-level data for anywhere in Mexico. Well it turns out 'GPS' in this case does not mean it can show you street-level map details, nor help you locate yourself on any other map you may have.

The Garmin products and their competitors cost around $200, but here on Ebay was this 'GPS' with 'Mexico maps included' for under $20. The goal was to get a GPS to help find my way around Mexico City's randomly-arranged streets. I bought it because the price was right-for $20, you can afford to be wrong.
